The 28 Days Sober Challenge™ – a fun break for a good cause28 March 2022
Montréal, January 20th, 2021 – The Fondation Jean Lapointe is proud to announce that Groupe Sélection, will be an official partner in the 8th edition of the 28 Days Sober ChallengeTM. For the past 30 years, Groupe Sélection has focused on designing and building living environments that promote the development of people of all generations. The company will enhance its leadership role in the community by helping to raise $750,000 to educate 80,000 young people across Québec about risks related to alcohol and drug addiction. These range from mental health problems to dropping out of school.
“We are confident that the community will support our mission to sensitize young people,” said L. Philippe Angers, Executive Director of the Fondation Jean Lapointe. “We sincerely believe that education is the key to supporting the next generation.”
“Groupe Sélection’s actions as a creator of living environments are based on the happiness, health and well-being of residents and employees who make our communities lively and enriching,” said Réal Bouclin, the company’s Fonding President and Chief Executive Officer. “The crucial actions taken by Fondation Jean Lapointe to support the fight against addiction address similar objectives. Groupe Sélection is thus proud to join forces to support the 28 Days Sober Challenge.”
A break for yourself and for a good cause
A small $28 investment enables participants to act as a change agent for themselves, and for young Quebecers by helping them reflect on the role that alcohol plays in their lives during these tough times. According to survey results released by Leger in January 2021, a third of Quebecers suffer from increased anxiety during the past 10 months, a factor which makes them likely to engage in risky behavior. The survey also noted that Quebecers have been drinking more during the past 10 months. The 28 Days Sober Challenge provides an opportunity to take a positive stop.
Taking a fun break together
On Sunday January 31rst, 2021 at 9 p.m. on TVA, the 28 Days Sober Challenge, will be kickstarted via 28 jours ensemble, a playful, inspiring hour-long television program. Their goal: to attract as many people as possible to their respective teams! Guests including Mélissa Bédard, Sébastien Benoît, Marc Hervieux, André-Philippe Gagnon, Valérie Chevalier and Jean-Marc Généreux will have to choose sides!
