Selection Group celebrates the mothers and grandmothers of its complexes on Mother’s Day

8 May 2020

Laval, May 8, 2020 – Selection Group is proud to celebrate the vital role of mothers and grandmothers on this year’s Mother’s Day. The circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic make this year’s celebrations exceptional. The residents of private seniors’ residences have been very resilient in respecting containment measures for almost two months. Selection Group teams are using their creativity to offer activities and celebrations that comply with public health guidelines and health recommendations.

Our employees will be mobilized to give our residents the cards, flowers and gifts that will be sent to them by their loved ones by dropping them off at the reception. In addition, various initiatives will be put in place in our complexes so that everyone can celebrate Mother’s Day with love and tenderness with their loved ones:

1. Mother’s Day mail

Since Monday, we invited people whose mother or grandmother lives in one of our complexes to write them a little note that our team will turn into a greeting card that will be distributed by Sunday, May 10th. It will also be possible to send photos and videos. The forms and all the details are available on our Sélection Retraite Facebook page.

2. Distribution of flowers, plants and fine herbs

On Sunday, our teams will distribute flowers, plants and fine herbs to all the women residing in our residences. All products will come from local nurseries and merchants to encourage the local economy in communities where Sélection Retraite complexes are established.

Some residences will use this spring to encourage residents to maintain their fine herb plants to replant later this summer in the complex’s community garden, in accordance with sanitary rules.

3. Local initiatives to share

Several complexes have developed local initiatives to allow residents to get as close as possible to their loved ones during this pandemic period. Whether it’s the safe parlour of the Sélection Graham, in Mount-Royal, or the mailbox at Manoir Notre Dame, in Roberval, there are many examples of the creativity and dedication of our teams.

4. Participation in the special broadcast of En direct de l’univers for Mother’s Day

Saturday, May 9th, during the special broadcast of En direct de l’univers for Mother’s Day, some of the centenarians who live in our Sélection Retraite complexes will make a short appearance. This special participation in the popular music show will take place at 7 p.m. on Radio-Canada’s network.

Quote

“Mother’s Day is usually an opportunity to come together and celebrate one of the most precious things: family. Our teams have been mobilizing for several days so that moms and women in our complexes can celebrate this memorable day safely. We hope that all mothers enjoy this Mother’s Day in happiness with their loved ones, despite the pandemic.”
