Laval, June 22nd, 2020 – Selection Group is pleased to announce the introduction of Québoom, a seasonal entertainment program for Sélection Retraite residences, which this year will be themed “A summer for the young at heart.”

The well-being and happiness of our residents are core priorities in designing the programming at our residences. We place their health at the top of our priorities. The goal is to enable residents to flourish in a safe environment despite the pandemic. We are proud to present a range of activities that will enhance Québec culture, while fostering the rigorous safety measures that enabled us to limit cases of contagion in our complexes.

During the next few weeks, our teams will be mobilized to liven up our complexes so that everyone can enjoy the beautiful season, while respecting public health regulations. A series of initiatives with a local flavor will enable our residents to remain “Young at heart.”

Following are just a few of the events that we have planned:

1- Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day

On June 24th, Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day, we are brushing aside our healthy eating habits and kicking off summer activities by our offering residents a local favorite: Poutine!  This Québec classic, which is made of 100 % local ingredients will be offered in our residences during this notable holiday.

Singer Guylaine Tanguay, who last month launched “Country”, her 15th album, will deliver a live broadcast performance on Facebook which will be simultaneously retransmitted on the TV Tour network in all apartments in our residences.

2- The Selection Group book club

To help foster the creation of large book club in our residences, each week a resident will present one of his/her personal Québec literary favorites on Selection Group’s Facebook page. Our goal is to highlight the richness of local literature and to offer residents great summer reading suggestions. We are proud to count on Renaud-Bray as a partner in the book club. North America’s largest network of French-language bookstores will include 50 local titles on various themes. Sélection Retraite residents will vote for their 10 favorite titles, at the end of the summer book club.

3- Ciné-Sélection

The interior courtyards of our residences will convert into festive movie theaters where we will project iconic Québec films. Our complexes will benefit from this activity which residents can participate in from their balconies or directly in the courtyard, with chairs placed so they meet the new standards for cultural projections. Ciné-Sélection will provide a great opportunity for our residents to reconnect with their classics or to make cinematic discoveries.

4- The MSO-Sélection in music

Montreal Symphony Orchestra musicians will deliver a range of outdoor concerts that showcase classical music in all its forms. This unique partnership with the internationally renowned orchestra will enable us to discover the works of creators from here and elsewhere.
